Someone who personifies the 12 principles of the Scout Law – trustworthy, courteous, thrifty, loyal, kind, brave, helpful, obedient, clean, friendly, cheerful, and reverent – and therefore serves as an exemplary role model for young people?

You have less than 24 hours left to nominate that person for the inaugural class of VISTA Leadership Megastars! The deadline is 11:59 PM on Friday, June 18.

VLM is a new initiative that the Chester County Council, Boy Scouts of America launched in conjunction with VISTA Today to honor 12 local leaders who are helping to make Chester County the great place that it is.

For years, the Chester County Council has recognized an individual with its Distinguished Citizen Award at an annual dinner. The Council has since expanded that effort and rebranded it as VISTA Leadership Megastars.

The Chester County Council needs the public’s help in identifying those people who are providing significant and enduring contributions to the community.

Rev. Frank Allen, the Rector of St. David’s Episcopal Church in Wayne since 1997, will receive the 2021 Distinguished Citizen Award on Sept. 14 at a hybrid awards reception at the Chester County Council’s new Program, Activity, and Resource Campus (PARC) in Exton.

The winners will be revealed on VISTA Today from July 6-9.

Chartered more than 100 years ago, the Chester County Council has a rich heritage of developing character and leadership skills in youth. It serves thousands of youth each year and partners with more than 100 community organizations to deliver quality Scouting programs.

Through these programs and activities – which allow youth to try new things, provide service to others, build self-confidence, and reinforce ethical standards – Scouts develop leadership and citizenship skills that influence their lives as adults.
