West Chester Studio for the Performing Arts at Uptown! – the nonprofit’s award-winning theatre school and camps – helps students young and old find their voice.

Uptown! singer Tori Koechert started at WCStudio as a shy, timid middle-schooler. She began with one class and never looked back.

“I grew quickly as a performer and person, all thanks to WCStudio,” she said.

Koechert went on to lead roles in both her high school musicals and WCStudio productions like All Shook Up and Love’s Labour’s Lost. She was also a featured vocalist in the Uptown! 2020 New Year’s Eve Gala.

Now a high school senior, Koechert will be pursuing Musical Theatre in college. She credits WCStudio’s Director of Education, Therese Walden Murphy, for nurturing her passion for theater.

“Ms. Therese has created an environment of friendship, support, and inspiration,” said Koechert.

“It’s all about nurturing creativity while building life skills,” said Walden Murphy. “The camps are designed to open the door into a lifelong adventure with the arts.”

All classes and camps are led by a team of industry professionals who inspire and encourage everyone to reach for their dreams, both on stage and off. Specifically designed with a certain age range and theme in mind, little ones’ imaginations can run free in “Storybook Theater.” Teens can star in their own commercials in “Acting for the Camera.” Programs run for one week with specialty camps running for two and three weeks. Early-bird discounts are available through March 15, and multiple camp discounts are available March 16 through the summer.
