Pets of Every Shape, Size, and Personality Await Adopters at the Brandywine Valley SPCA in West Chester

By

The Brandywine Valley SPCA in West Chester is a temporary abode to hundreds of cats and dogs that are hoping to soon find their forever home, writes Jessica Boyington for 6ABC.

The pet sanctuary is one of five locations that serve the area as a no-kill, open-intake adoption facility. Together, they move nearly 16,000 animals each year.

An enrichment coordinator helps ease the emotional upset pooches feel while living in a shelter. The coordinator soothes canine nerves by using playgroups and socialization drills, among other activities.

The Brandywine Valley SPCA also offers a behavior room, where staff and volunteers teach dogs simple commands for living at home. They also work with them on basic manners.

The West Chester facility currently houses animals of a variety of personalities and looks. Whether you are looking for a calm dog who will be your couch-potato friend or a high-energy puppy to run around with, you will find what you are looking for.

And if you decide to adopt the “Pet of the Month,” you choose the amount of the adoption fee.
