Bishop Shanahan High School graduate Devon Miller, a sophomore at Fordham University, was recently named the Wilson/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Pitcher of the Week after throwing a pair of perfect games on back-to-back days against La Salle.

Miller, a Chadds Ford native, is just the second softball player in Fordham history to earn a national award.

“Another well-deserved accolade for Devon’s historic performances,” Rams head coach Melissa Inouye. “I’m thrilled she’s gaining national attention – she’s definitely earned it – and I’m excited for her to continue her success this year.”

Miller posted identical stat lines in both contests, each time striking out 12 of 15 Explorers over five innings. She struck out the first seven batters in the first game, then struck out seven consecutive batters in the second game, starting with the third out of the first inning.

The 5-foot-8 Miller, who tallied more than 1,000 strikeouts during her scholastic career at Shanahan, registered 15 strikeouts apiece in wins over Maine and Saint Bonaventure earlier this spring.

Miller boasts an 8-2 record with two saves and a 1.70 ERA for the Rams, who are 25-5 overall and 8-0 in the Atlantic 10 Conference this season.
