WCASD’s New Elementary School Set to Open in August

With construction on track, Greystone Elementary School in West Goshen Township is set to open its doors to eager students in August, writes Bill Rettew for the Daily Local News.

Currently, contractors are finalizing indoor work at the $27.5 million facility. The school will have 24 classrooms – four for each grade level – that will be able to accommodate up to 600 students.

Work on the West Chester Area School District’s 11th elementary school began in December 2019.

“They still have a ways to go with the finishing touches,” said Principal Dr. Kevin Fagan. “We are on target to open in August.”

Fagan, who until recently served as principal at East High School, will transfer to the new elementary school, where he will build a staff and welcome the community.

“I’m a learner, and I like a challenge,” said Fagan.

Each classroom at the new school will be equipped with two whiteboards. There will also be two emotional support rooms, three resource rooms, and two music rooms, along with a reading lab.
