A new book by Kennett Township resident Gene Pisasale shines a spotlight on the group of men from Pennsylvania and Delaware who played a key role in creating this nation and its system of government, writes Steven Hoffman for the Chester County Press.

Forgotten Founding Fathers: Pennsylvania and Delaware in the American Revolution is the author’s 10th book. It takes the reader “on a fascinating journey through America’s formative years,” said Pisasale.

The book boasts more than 250 full-color images of artifacts, documents, and paintings that highlight details of the men’s lives, viewpoints, and actions. All of these helped create this country as we now know it.

All 10 figures signed the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, but many of them also signed two other important documents. These were the Continental Association, which boycotted goods arriving from England, and the Articles of Confederation, the nation’s first attempt at a working Constitution.

“They were actively engaged in creating the government we know today,” said Pisasale. “As a group, they signed more of our founding documents than the better-known men like Washington and Jefferson.”
