After Weeks of Decline, COVID-19 Cases in Chester County Once Again on the Rise

After a long run of decreasing COVID-19 cases, positive case counts over the last week were significantly up compared to the previous week, as well as the week before, writes Fran Maye for the Daily Local News.

Last week, there were 489 new cases, an increase from the 385 cases the previous week and the 455 cases the week before that. The new cases pushed the positivity rate above five percent to 5.64 percent. The week before, it had been at 4.3 percent, and the week prior it was at 4.74 percent.

The majority of people who are testing positive for the coronavirus are still in the 20-to-29 age range.

According to the Chester County Health Department, COVID-19 has infected 9.48 percent of Kennett Square’s population, 9.39 percent of Avondale’s population, 8.45 percent of London Grove Township’s population, and 8.36 percent of Atglen’s population.
