In the lead for Donald Trump’s impeachment trial is former Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce Castor Jr., writes Jeremy Roebuck for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

In a statement released Sunday night, Trump said Castor will work along with a new counsel, Alabama criminal defense lawyer David Schoen, saying this new team will bring “national profiles and significant trial experience” to his case.

Over the weekend, Trump broke with his previous team of lawyers, disagreeing over defense strategy.

Montco’s Castor, of Lower Salford, made his name known in the 2000s as a top prosecutor, after a string of positions in county government and a short stint as Pennsylvania’s Acting Attorney General.

Castor must now pull from his years of law experience to defend the twice-impeached Trump.

The case is scheduled to begin next week.
