N.Y. Times: Check Out How Many ICU Beds Are Available at Chester County’s Five Hospitals

As the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise, most Chester County hospitals remain below the state and national average for ICU occupancy, write Matthew Conlen, John Keefe, Lauren Leatherby, and Charlie Smart for The New York Times.

A new map released by The New York Times provides detailed geographic information on COVID-19 patients in hospitals.

For the seven days ending Dec. 17, the hospital with the highest ICU occupancy in Chester County was Paoli Hospital at 79 percent. The state average is currently at 83 percent, and the national average stands at 78 percent. The hospital currently has 56 COVID-19 patients and three available beds in its ICU left.

Chester County Hospital is at 74 percent ICU occupancy with 48 COVID-19 patients and 11 available beds.

Meanwhile, Jennersville Hospital has 19 COVID-19 patients, three available ICU beds, and 63 percent ICU occupancy.

Phoenixville Hospital is at 61 percent occupancy with 43 COVID-19 patients and nine available beds.

The hospital with the lowest ICU occupancy in the county is Brandywine Hospital at 43 percent. The hospital has 36 COVID-19 patients and nine available beds.
