Leaders Detail the Development Underway in Their Municipalities at WCCCC’s Annual Municipal Update

By

The Western Chester County Chamber of Commerce recently hosted its Annual Municipal Update in a hybrid format (both in-person and virtual) at G.A. Vietri Electrical Construction in Coatesville.

During the event, leaders from across the chamber’s footprint shared news and plans for the municipalities they represent.

Coatesville City Manager James Logan discussed the exciting development underway in Coatesville.

“We’ve been in the paper a lot,” he said. “We have projects going on in our (four) Opportunity Zones.”

Regarding the status of the new train station on Fleetwood Street in between Third and Fourth avenues, Logan said, “We have contracts that are going to be signed, hopefully, by the end of this year. Construction will start next year.”

In addition to infrastructure updates, Parkesburg Borough Councilman Josh Mellinger shared what Parkesburg has on tap for 2022, which marks the borough’s 150th year.

“We have a historical commission that we put into play a couple of years ago (to plan activities for the sesquicentennial),” he said. “We’ve also adopted a revitalization plan that we worked on with the Chester County Planning Commission.”

Also, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Travel Baseball Association (SEPTBA) introduced Parkesburg as its home. The travel baseball organization is slated to host approximately 400 tournaments in the borough next year.
