Creative Lawn Display in Delco a Thing of Legends
For the past 10 years, the front lawn of the Agency by the Mall in Springfield has hosted a variety of unique (some say strange) displays, writes Stephanie Farr for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Like a family of six with large unicorn heads. Or an electric kid car pile-up.
It’s not unusual for visitors to check out the displays and say, “What the hell was that?”
Susan Triggiani, owner of the insurance and notary firm for 40 years, is the artistic genius behind it.
She started the lawn displays in 2010 to get noticed after joining a networking group and discovering no one knew about her business.
“I didn’t realize that it would be the boon that it is,” she said. “It put me on the map.”
The lifelong Delco resident and 1972 graduate of Cardinal O’Hara High School is also a community theater actor and set designer.
Her Delco legends on Baltimore Pike across from the Springfield Mall did get her in trouble with the township.
A Springfield zoning officer told her the display was junk.
A Springfield district justice disagreed, so the display could stay, with one condition — no appliances.
