Kennett High School Soccer Coach Honored with National Award for His Service to the Sport

Kennett High School boys soccer coach Mike Barr has been honored by the United Soccer Coaches, a national organization that promotes the sport at all levels, with its Charlotte Moran Youth Long-Term Service Award, according to a report from SoccerWire.com.

A legend on the local soccer scene, Barr, who also serves as the Technical Director for the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association, will be presented with the award during a ceremony on Jan. 13.

A member of the United Soccer Coaches since 1981, Barr served as EPYSA’s Director of Coaching for 27 years before moving to his current position. Prior to his arrival at Kennett, the Wallingford resident and former special education teacher spent two decades as the boys coach at Strath Haven High School, where he led the Panthers to five state championships.

A member of the Millersville University Hall of Fame and the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, Barr also coached at Immaculata University and has accrued many accolades throughout his long and fruitful career.
