There is a new, unique group home for adults with chronic mental health challenges in Media thanks to a prominent Berwyn family, writes Caroline O’Halloran for SAVVY Main Line.

Clark’s Manor is funded by the Widger Family Foundation and is run by the behavioral health nonprofit Elwyn. The first resident is Clark Widger, a former Conestoga athlete with chronic mental illness, and there is room for seven more occupants.

Widger was living in a similar collaborative environment near Boston. However, to bring him closer to home, his parents, Charles and Barbara, and sister, Ashley, were determined to replicate that successful program much closer to their Berwyn home.

The property is designed as a safe haven where residents live together as a family. They spend their days out in the community and return home to enjoy dinner together. There is also a staff who helps residents find personalized opportunities in the community.

Charles Widger is the founder of Brinker Capital and the leading benefactor of Villanova University’s Charles Widger School of Law.
