According to the Chester County Health Department, the number of coronavirus cases in Chester County, after weeks of steady decline, is once again on the rise, writes Fran Maye for the Daily Local News.

The coronavirus incidence rate per 100,000 people in Chester County over the last four weeks has increased from 49.2 to 52.1. If this trend continues, it may jeopardize in-school hybrid education, which relies on community transmission metrics.

For the week ending Oct. 15, the percent-positivity rate in Chester County increased to 3.2 percent. However, this remains lower than the statewide rate that increased to 4.3 percent from 3.9 percent the previous week.

In Chester County, the 20-to-29 age bracket is the hot spot for those testing positive. They are considered to be “spreaders,” as they may not exhibit symptoms but can still pass the virus on to others.

At this time, Pocopson, East Bradford, New Garden, West Chester, and East Vincent are considered the local hot spots for coronavirus as their numbers trended up in the past week.
