Ranking behind only the Susquehanna Township School District in Dauphin County, the Coatesville Area School District is the second-most diverse school district in Pennsylvania, according to a new report published by Niche.com.

To determine the rankings for its list of the 2021 Most Diverse School Districts in Pennsylvania, Niche.com used data from the U.S. Department of Education to perform a rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews submitted by students and parents.

Among the factors used to evaluate the state’s 500 school districts were student racial diversity, surveys on culture and diversity conducted among students and parents, and gender diversity, among others.

CASD’s student body is 41.4 percent white, 31.4 percent African-American, and 21.4 percent Hispanic.

Diversity in the district’s 11 schools is often highlighted by students in their reviews of their school experience.

“I loved the diversity among students at this school,” wrote one senior.

“The diversity in my school is what really makes it unique,” wrote another.

Coatesville also ranked 26th among the most diverse school districts nationwide.
