The Brandywine Health Foundation has awarded the Coatesville Center for Community Health a COVID Recovery grant of $19,905 for its Grandfamilies Initiative.

BHF grants were established to assist Coatesville-area nonprofits as they carry on their services and programs during these unprecedented times.

CCCH’s Grandfamilies Initiative is a crucial program specially designed to meet the needs of adults who are raising their grandchildren or the children of others. The need for these adults to take on the parenting role for these children is brought about most often by addiction, incarceration, or mental health issues.

The Grandfamilies Initiative is an important program that has grown out of a critical need for families to keep their loved ones’ children out of the foster care system.

“The adults, some of whom are seniors, who take on this responsibility are unsung heroes in our community,” said CCCH Director Kathryn Spurlock. “The Brandywine Health Foundation’s generous grant will enable us to continue meeting the needs of these families throughout 2020-21.”

Established in 1999, CCCH provides low-income Coatesville residents access to a wide range of health and human services at a convenient location.
