West Chester Rustin graduate Chris McMahon, who spent three years as a pitcher at the University of Miami, has been chosen by the Colorado Rockies in the second round of the 2020 Major League Baseball Draft as the 46th overall pick, writes Pete DiGiovanni for PA Prep Live.

“I have a lot of emotions right now,” said McMahon. “I am excited, relieved and this is a great feeling to be the 46th overall pick in the draft and getting the opportunity to continue to play baseball.”

McMahon compiled a 3-0 record with a 1.05 ERA in four starts during this truncated season with the Hurricanes. He struck out 38 batters in 25 innings.

Coming out of high school, McMahon was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 33rd round but decided to honor his commitment to Miami.

“I just am really excited for the opportunity, and I just want to get started and am happy with still being able to play baseball,” he said.
