The Grove in Malvern – a redevelopment of the former Shops at Great Valley – is ready to reignite the momentum gained from its opening that was brought to a halt by the pandemic, writes Natalie Kostelni for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The retail project owned by DP Partners had two strong openings in mid-January – Bomba Taco & Rum Bar and Sly Fox Brewery – and a full slate of incoming tenants that included Nudy’s Café, Bulldog Yoga, and Clean Juice, among many others.

“We Amazon-proofed our retail and thought we mitigated for everything but a pandemic,” said Jason Dempsey of DP Partners.

Most of the center’s tenants were supposed to open their doors in mid-March, but then the stay-at-home order and the closure of non-essential businesses put those plans on hold.

Despite the disruption, developers are now busy working with their tenants to come up with a “plan of attack” once businesses can fully open to patrons.

“We’re very confident,” said Dempsey. “We hope to not lose anybody, but we don’t have a crystal ball, but I think we’re in a strong position.”
