Following his success as a professional baseball player, Malvern Prep graduate Ben Davis is still involved in the sport as the Phillies’ expert commentator, writes Jack McCaffery for the Daily Local News.

Davis was drafted as the No. 2 overall pick in 1995 by the San Diego Padres. He was scooped up right out of high school, with a $1.3 million signing bonus added to ensure he would de-commit from the University of Miami.

During his seven years in the Major Leagues, he also played for the Seattle Mariners and Chicago White Sox. He then played another six years in the minors.

Not long after his retirement, the West Chester resident got into broadcasting and is now adding his insight to Phillies games. Now, 25 years after being drafted, Davis is still living his dream.

“I am very happy,” he said. “I get on my knees every night, thankful that I was able to do what I did for as long as I did.”
