COVID-19 has taught us a lot, and with schools closed and students learning from home, one of the pandemic’s lessons is how teachers are often underappreciated.

In the era of the coronavirus, any recognition of teachers seems to carry more weight, as society is now gaining a fresh perspective on the critical impact the profession has on our next generation.

Citadel has been honoring teachers with its Heart of Learning Award since 2001. The award is for teaching excellence and recognizes teachers at both public and private schools in Chester County who show dedication both in and out of the classroom. Every year, Citadel receives thousands of heartfelt nominations from students, parents, and community members for teachers who are making a true difference in students’ lives.

Citadel recently announced the 15 finalists this year:

“We know life has looked a little bit different lately,” a Citadel Facebook post read. “Along with the challenges, there have been joys and triumphs. We recognize teachers everywhere for being everyday superheroes and for supporting their students and community during this difficult time. Your ability to adapt and overcome challenges is inspiring. Thank you for all that you do.”

Citadel will reveal the three winners of the Heart of Learning Award on Facebook Live on Tuesday, May 19 at 6:30 PM.
