The United Way of Chester County has secured a $100,000 challenge match from the Longwood Foundation in advance of #GivingTuesdayNow, May 5, to help support those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Chester County.

Due to the foundation’s generosity, every dollar donated to the Chester County COVID-19 Response Fund will immediately be doubled for double the impact. #GivingTuesdayNow is a special worldwide event where thousands of people and organizations around the world will be coming together in acts of unity and giving as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

Funds raised on #GivingTuesdayNow will be provided to Chester County nonprofits through a rapid deployment mini-grant process overseen by the United Way of Chester County Community Impact Co-Chairs, along with other key community stakeholders.

“We are so grateful for this opportunity to have every gift doubled in pursuit of our ambitious $1,000,000 goal for COVID-19 response,” said Christopher Saello, President and CEO of United Way of Chester County. “Longwood Foundation has partnered with United Way of Chester County for decades, providing over $1,000,000 in support to our Community Impact Fund. Our work is not possible without the generosity of organizations like the Longwood Foundation.

“But there is more to do. We must act now. The needs are great, and new challenges emerge every day in our county that we need to be ready to face head-on.”

One hundred percent of donations to the County COVID-19 Response Fund are distributed to nonprofits in Chester County with no fees taken. To date, $636,000 has been raised and $328,000 has already been deployed to 51 nonprofits.

With your help, United Way of Chester County can continue to assist nonprofits and the people they serve during and after this pandemic. Your gift means more than money – it will help those impacted by COVID-19 to regain their health and/or financial stability.
