While the majority of polling sites in Chester County will be open for the Primary Election on June 2, some sites have run into coronavirus-related difficulties that are necessitating some closures and relocations, writes Michael Rellahan for the Daily Local News.

These include an insufficient number of poll workers to handle the routine tasks and the unavailability of facilities that are usually used as polling sites, including long-term care facilities.

Still, despite the current directive by Gov. Tom Wolf to keep the county in the red, stay-at-home phase, the voting process is considered essential and will not be affected.

“Voting is considered an essential activity that will take place even with a stay-at-home order, and the poll workers and polling locations for each precinct in Chester County are undertaking an essential service,” said the Chester County Office of Voter Services.

For every precinct, the county will provide the maximum level of personal protective equipment for both poll workers and voters.
