The Jazz Cocktail Hour at Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center will present “Dessert and an Evening of Love Songs” with Laurin Talese & Quartet on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14 at 8 PM.
An award-winning vocalist and prolific songwriter, Talese will be singing her own work, along with classics like “Someone to Watch Over Me,” “Cry Me A River,” and “When I Fall in Love.”
The Jazz Cocktail Hour is a popular monthly program that offers a variety of regional, national, and international talent from September through May.
Talese has shared the stage and collaborated with numerous Grammy Award-winning artists, including Patti LaBelle, Gregory Porter, Robert Glasper, Vivian Green, Lalah Hathaway, and bassist Christian McBride. After winning the 2018 International Sara Vaughan Vocal Competition, Talese has been touring the world singing selections from her debut album Gorgeous Chaos and paying tribute to the great Sarah Vaughan and Nancy Wilson.
In 2019, Talese was selected as a Jazz Ambassador by the State Department’s American Music Abroad program. Following in the footsteps of former Ambassadors Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, and Dave Brubeck, Talese recently embarked on a two-week tour of eastern Europe. Traveling through Montenegro, Ukraine, and Poland, she performed for audiences and led educational workshops to bring jazz to new populations.
Sara Michaels – host of The Jazz Cocktail Hour at Uptown! – curates a wonderful and diverse roster of national and international talent to perform jazz in its many forms throughout the year. Always a crowd-pleaser, this monthly program has earned a reputation for offering some of the best jazz in Chester County.
