As the Philadelphia Flyers intensify their efforts to attract younger fans, some of their tactics are not being welcomed by many of the team’s older fans, writes Christian Hetrick for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Kevin McCormack of West Chester has been collecting tickets from Flyers games since 1995. The season-ticket holder keeps the stubs in a cardboard box and has amassed an impressive collection that even includes ones from the lost NHL season.

But his 25-year tradition was disrupted when the Flyers stopped selling printed tickets and replaced them with digital ones. He was not the only one upset by this, and after numerous complaints, the team said it will bring back printed tickets next season.

“I’m not against technology, but I think that they rushed that through,” said McCormack.

Still, some additions have been embraced by old and new fans alike. The Gritty Command Center for kids has been the perfect place for Tim Archibald of Huntingdon Valley to take his 11-year-old daughter during games.

“She’s into hockey but it’s definitely something that adds another level to a kid’s experience,” said Archibald.
