Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center will once again present Oscar-Nominated Short Films in partnership with ShortsTV and Magnolia Pictures.
Oscar-Nominated Short Films is an exclusive release featuring the year’s most spectacular short films across the three categories of Animation, Live Action, and Documentary. Audience members will get the chance to watch all of the films on the theater’s big screen and then vote for their favorites to see if their choices line up with the winners at The Academy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 9.
The program will span two days with the Animated and Live Action shorts on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 3 PM and the Documentary shorts on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 3 PM. The Animated program has a PG-13 rating, while both the Live Action and Documentary programs are rated R.
Tickets are $20 per day, with the opportunity to receive $5 off the total price when you make a purchase to attend both events. Concessions will be available for purchase, and filmgoers are welcome to come and go as they like throughout both events.
Trailers for the program will be posted here on Facebook.
For more than a decade, ShortsTV has proudly brought this program to audiences across the globe. The nominees for all three categories were announced in late January. While some full-length feature films last for hours, a short film is an original motion picture with a running time of 40 minutes or less.
The films go into theaters around the world shortly after nominations are announced and are not released anywhere else until a few days before the Oscars, when they are also made available through on-demand platforms. In 2019, the Oscar-Nominated Short Films were released in more than 600 theaters across the U.S.
