Keith Maguire, a Malvern Prep graduate and freshman linebacker at Clemson, was the only Philadelphia-area player on either team at Monday’s College Football Playoff championship game, writes Joseph Santoliquito for PhillyVoice.

Maguire saw limited play on the road to the national title game, but he made the most of it. To keep his redshirt status, he played in four games and was credited with two tackles and one interception on nine defensive snaps.

His college debut was during the season opener against Charlotte. His first career interception came in the ACC Championship Game against Virginia. And despite the loss Clemson suffered in the title game to LSU, Maguire got the opportunity to observe the must-watch game from the best seat.

Still, the change from high school to college football did require some adjustments for the local star. One of them was to sit down and study more film.

“We watch more film than we do practice,” said Maguire, “so I would say that’s been the biggest adjustment from high school to college.”

Soon, he hopes he will get to show all he has learned on the field.
