Horse Power for Life, a local nonprofit that provides professional horsemanship instruction to people of all ages who have been affected by cancer, is seeking sponsors for its 13th Annual Pink Horseshoe Gala to be held on April 4, 2020.

A variety of sponsorships are available. The organization is particularly looking for one presenting sponsor, the logo of which will be featured on the event’s invitation that will reach more than 2,000 people early next year. Horse Power for Life is also in need of donated items for its silent auction and raffle baskets.

The nonprofit is dedicated to helping cancer patients, survivors, and their immediate family members improve their physical and emotional quality of life by providing an educational and therapeutic horsemanship program, free of charge. Its mission is to help families living with cancer focus on their minds, bodies, and souls – rather than the disease – while learning about horses in an atmosphere of professionalism, teamwork, and fun.

“As a cancer survivor, the threat of the disease remains part of my life, so being able to focus on myself by taking riding lessons and being involved with these magnificent animals is a dream come true,” said one breast cancer survivor.

The program includes 90-minute sessions and guides students through all aspects of horse care, from basic grooming to leading horses to riding. Sessions are customized for each individual based on his or her age, skills, experience, comfort level, health, and physical ability.

Horse Power for Life also provides full scholarships for children affected by cancer to attend summer pony camp. It sponsored eight children in 2017, 24 children in 2018, and 42 children in 2019 and aims to sponsor at least 50 children next summer.

The yearly program and summer pony camp are primarily funded by the money raised at the annual Pink Horseshoe Gala.
