Glenmoore native and Bishop Shanahan High School graduate Renee Shultz, a sophomore on the Yale women’s volleyball team, recently helped the Bulldogs clinch a share of their third consecutive Ivy League title.

Yale outlasted Princeton, 3-2, last Saturday, as the two teams shared the Ivy League crown and will meet again in a one-match playoff on Friday to determine the conference’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.

Shultz, a 6-foot-0 setter, had three assists in the victory over the Tigers. She had a season-high 12 assists in a loss to Oregon State in early September.

As a senior at volleyball powerhouse Bishop Shanahan, Shultz led the Eagles to the PIAA Class 4A finals in the fall of 2017 and was named the Gatorade Pennsylvania Volleyball Player of the Year. That season, she recorded 713 assists, 330 digs, 108 kills, and 46 service aces.

“Renee Shultz is probably the best setter to come out of the area in two decades,” said Mark Clark, who won the state championship in 2016 as the coach of Garnet Valley.

Shultz’s sister, Cara Shultz, a current senior at Shanahan, will join her on campus next season in New Haven, Conn.
