The Chester County Historical Society is competing against 19 other historic sites throughout the country for a preservation grant sponsored by National Geographic, American Express, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

And you can help.

The winner is determined by a vote from the public. You can sign up and cast up to five votes daily from now through Oct. 29 by clicking here.

CCHS would use the funds to replace its failing roof and, as such, has launched a campaign entitled “Under One Roof” to secure your vote.

CCHS and each of its competitors are hosting an open house on Saturday, Oct. 19 during the voting period. The site with the most attendance from 12-4 PM will win an additional $50,000.

Stop by to vote or stay for the afternoon and enjoy free admission, free garage parking, and a complimentary beverage. The block party will include Main Line Animal Rescue, live music, beer garden by Saloon 151, food trucks, children’s activities, and historical reenactors.

Here is the schedule:

  • 12-2 PM: Main Line Animal Rescue
  • 12-4 PM: Children’s Activities
  • 1-5 PM: Live Music
  • 12-6 PM: Food Trucks and Beer Garden

To help CCHS manage the headcount and have enough free goodies for everyone, pre-registration is encouraged but not required. If you pre-register through Eventbrite, you are automatically entered into a raffle for a $100 gift card.
