Two Chester County women were among the winners at the 24th Annual Newport Flower Show last month at Rosecliff Mansion in Newport, R.I., according to a report from The Newport Daily News.

The show is organized by the Preservation Society of Newport County. The proceeds from the three-day event go toward the ongoing preservation of the historic gardens and grounds maintained by the society.

Malvern’s Mimi Favre, a newcomer to the event, won the show’s Best New Exhibitor Award. This recognizes the most distinctive entry by a first-time exhibitor in the Botanical Arts Division.

Favre has also combined her interests in the decorative arts and horticulture with a mastery of fine workmanship to become an independent designer and creator of elegant custom jewelry.

Meanwhile, Rachel Gaffey of Birchrunville walked away with two awards in the Horticulture Division. She was recognized with the Garden Club of America Certificate of Excellence in Horticulture for her distinctive exhibit, along with The Green Animals Topiary Award for Best Topiary in Show.
