People who enjoy Pop-Tarts and craft beer are in for a treat, as the Stolen Sun Craft Brewing & Roasting Co. in Exton is now offering a beer made using Unicorn Power Pop-Tarts, writes Nick Vadala for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The hazy IPA, dubbed Unicorn Tarts, is infused with around 50 pounds of the breakfast treat. It is available on draft at the brewery’s taproom and in some area bars.

The idea for the beer came to Stolen Sun founder and brewmaster Jonathan Zangwill after he came across limited-edition, cherry-flavored Pop-Tarts at a local store. He immediately purchased so many that even the cashier was suspicious.

“The lady who was checking us out just gave us the craziest look,” said Zangwill. “I just kind of said, ‘Well, they’re on sale — you might as well stock up.’”

The beer-making process is rounded out by Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado hops to ensure the fruit profile of the Pop-Tarts is preserved. No pieces of the Pop-Tarts are in the final product as they just melt away during the brewing process.

The resulting beer has the tropical flavors typical of hazy IPAs, said Zangwill.
