Maggie Balint, an Avon Grove High School graduate who played her first two years on the collegiate level at the University of Oregon, has announced that she will transfer to San Diego State, writes James Crepea for The Oregonian.

The West Grove native left the Ducks at the start of the season and will join the Aztecs for her remaining two years of eligibility.

“Happy to announce I will be spending the next 2 years at San Diego State finishing up my academic and athletic career!!,” Balint wrote on her Instagram. “Thank you to everyone that has supported me through the last couple of months!”

Balint is a three-time Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year. She ended her scholastic career at Avon Grove with 1,322 strikeouts, the second most in the state’s history.

The righthander, who was coping with two bulging discs in her back, was 7-1 with a 2.11 ERA with 62 strikeouts over 59.2 innings in 2018.

During her freshman year in 2017, she was 21-3 with a team-best 1.12 ERA. She also recorded 152 strikeouts over 126 innings, leading Oregon to the Women’s College World Series.
