Many parents were overjoyed to see a new children’s store that buys and sells gently used children’s clothing and gear arrive in the Whiteland Towne Center in Exton, writes Donna Rovins for the Daily Local News.

Once Upon a Child is a part of a national recycling retail chain that specializes in buying and selling merchandise for infants to pre-teens. This includes apparel, shoes, books, baby equipment, toys, and furniture.

In addition to filling the need from the closure of the nearby Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores, the new store also offers parents an opportunity to earn some money on things their children have outgrown.

“These are items that would have sat in someone’s basement or gone to the landfill,” said Megan Davis, Once Upon a Child’s owner. “By purchasing merchandise directly from consumers, we’re able to offer lower prices and a great opportunity to receive cash on the spot for items they may have otherwise simply given away.”

The store got started with a six-week buying period prior to the April 25 grand opening. During that time the store purchased more than 40,000 items.
