Local Nonprofit to Host Deck Party at The Desmond to Celebrate Mentoring, Gratitude

By

The Youth Mentoring Partnership, an Exton-based nonprofit dedicated to helping kids overcome formidable challenges in order to be successful today and in the future, will host a deck party to celebrate mentoring and gratitude on Tuesday, June 4 from 5:30-8 PM at The Desmond in Malvern.

YMP is launching a year-long campaign on social media – entitled #Thanks2You – to thank and honor those who have made a difference in the lives of others, inspire others to do the same, and provide mentors to youth in need.

YMP’s programs help youth forge character, build mental toughness, and master goal-setting skills through physical fitness and sports. They are rooted in:

  • Goal Setting: Kids are 78 percent more likely to achieve a goal if it is written down.
  • Grit: When difficulties arise, YMP teaches children to persevere and keep going.
  • Gratitude: Helping others to grow and succeed increases personal productivity and happiness.

Once kids learn to endure through intense physical challenges, set goals, and give back in the classroom and on the field, they apply those lessons to school, work, and life.

The No. 1 protective factor for at-risk youth is a mentor, yet one in three kids will grow up without a positive adult in their life. Many kids are one mentor away from being a success story. Your contribution can help fill the void and change a life, as YMP works with kids from Coatesville all the way to West Philadelphia.

Tickets to the event are $35. Click here to get yours.

The first two individuals to e-mail Ken Knickerbocker, the publisher of VISTA Today, will receive a free ticket to the Deck Party.
