After two decades of working the land at the community garden in Phoenixville, Dorene Pasekoff has fulfilled her dream of owning her own slice of land with Hill Creek Farm in East Coventry Township, writes Bill Rettew for the Daily Local News.

“Farming is very satisfying,” said Pasekoff. “Plants and animals are stress relievers. It makes me feel better.”

On her eight acres, Pasekoff raises chickens and grows vegetables and fruit both for her family and to sell. The latest additions are fresh jalapenos for local restaurants.

And while she spends most of the summer toiling from dawn to dusk, during the winter, she spends her time reading and learning. She also finds a lot of information on social media sites like Facebook.

“I like to sleep and talk to other people on the Internet in the winter,” she said.

Also, Pasekoff sells her produce at her farm stand, which allows customers to see how it is grown.

“They love the idea that the food is being grown right here and they can ask how it is grown,” she said.
