The Chester County Economic Development Council (CCEDC) is able to support area businesses by providing subsidies for technology training for their existing employees.

Companies who have a technology skills gap, find that technology is out-pacing their operations, or need to stay competitive by adapting current technologies should take advantage of reimbursement of up to 50% of their training costs.

CCEDC will administer the funds via one of its initiatives, the Innovative Technology Action Group (ITAG), and work in collaboration with the Chester County Workforce Development Board, which serves as the fiscal agent and grantee.  The funding which is made available through grants from the PA Department of Labor & Industry and PA Department of Community and Economic Development.

“ITAG works with employers in our six-county region on addressing the re-skilling crisis in technology,” says Marybeth DiVincenzo, Senior Vice President, CCEDC. “Our region’s companies face two major challenges in the tech sector,” she continued. “There is a significant shortage of available skilled workers for new tech jobs and a need to upgrade existing employees to enable workers to maintain their jobs and for companies to achieve their business goals and objectives related to technology.”

ITAG’s annual survey revealed that technology across all industries has remained the area’s highest priority, with upgrading the skills of their existing workforce as most critical.  In the past three years, the demand for technology training far exceeded the available grant support through the partnership.

Companies in a variety of industries are eligible for reimbursement of up to 50% of their technology training costs.  To learn more or verify eligibility, please contact Marianne Stack – Project Manager, at mstack@ccedcpa.com.
