According to the flu report recently published by the Pennsylvania Health Department, Chester and Delaware counties had lower flu rates relative to the state’s 65 other counties, writes Bailey King for PhillyVoice.

Statewide, influenza has already caused the deaths of 46 adults and one child. The majority of adult fatalities were individuals 50 and older.

According to the report, in all 67 counties, the first half of the flu season saw 37,808 lab-confirmed cases. As a result, the state considers this outbreak to be widespread and above epidemic levels.

Chester County is in the lower half of counties most affected by flu, ranking 47th. It has recorded 235 flu cases per 100,000 people, for a total of 1,204 recorded cases, which is below the state average.

Delaware County did not fare as well with 385 flu cases per 100,000 people, for 2,164 total recorded cases. This placed Delco at 25th in the state.
