The Habitat for Humanity ReStore in New Garden Township is closing after seven years, as the organization refocuses its attention on home building, writes Fran Maye for Southern Chester County Weeklies.

“With the opening of our housing development in West Grove, we are shifting attention away from the store and more into the home-building operation,” said Chip Huston, executive director for Habitat for Humanity of Chester County.

The store will accept donations until March 2 and will officially close on March 9. Until then, the store is offering discounts of up to 75 percent.

Habitat ReStores are donation centers that also serve as nonprofit home improvement stores. Donated items are sold at a steep discount to the public, with the profits supporting Habitat’s mission to provide shelter to underprivileged families.

“We had seven years in Kennett, and that was a good run,” said Huston. He said that the Habitat ReStore in Caln Township will remain open.

“We are not stopping county service, just closing one of our outlets,” he said.
