West Chester tops the list of the Five Best College Towns of 2018, beating out the homes of the University of Michigan, BYU, Texas A&M, and Santa Monica College, writes Rachel Oaks for HighSpeedInternet.com.

The site used data from Census.gov, Safewise.com, and City-Data.com, among other resources, to compile its list.

Factors like low cost of living, access to high-speed Internet, walkability, low crime rate, and a predominantly single and educated population were all taken into account to find cities with an ideal environment for college students.

“College is about more than book learning — it’s about experiencing the world as an adult for the first time,” writes Oaks. “The right college town can be the perfect background to countless adventures and nights you’ll remember for the rest of your life.”

West Chester edged out Ann Arbor, Mich.; Provo, Utah; College Station, Texas; and Santa Monica, Calif.

“West Chester has something for everybody,” writes Oaks. “You can take a walk down West Chester’s historic main street, one of three winners of the 2017 Great American Main Street Award, or hike through the peaceful Stroud Preserve.”
