The Friends Association for the Care & Protection of Children hosted a successful 30th Annual West Chester Charity Ball, raising more than $175,000 in support of its four programs.

The event, sponsored by A. Marinelli & Sons, was recently held at the West Chester Country Club.

“We are so pleased with the success of another West Chester Charity Ball, benefiting the Emergency Family Shelter, Homeless Prevention Program, and Outreach to Homeless Families Program,” said Catherine Friedman, Committee Chair and Friends Association Executive Director. “We are grateful to the community for supporting this important event which helps to support the families we serve.

“It is so great to see guests reinforcing our work through their generosity. With everyone’s help, we were able to raise crucial funds for our four programs.”

Guests enjoyed a night full of sensational entertainment, featuring celebrity emcees Kerstin Lindquist and Craig Smith, and exceptional live and silent auctions. Guests enjoyed dinner and festive cocktails, while dancing the night away to The Midnight Hour Band.

In addition to entertainment, Friends Association honored the Community of West Chester with the 2016 Friend of the Community Award.

“Over the last 30 Years of the Charity Ball, the West Chester Community has been a powerful champion for the vulnerable population in Chester County,” said Friedman. “From the generosity of our local businesses, the donations of our citizens, and the many volunteer hours, Friends has been the grateful recipient of years of charitable gifting.

“Although we live in a beautiful and affluent area, there is a segment of our community that is in need of basic housing and benefits from this support. As we applaud the rich, 30-year history of the West Chester Charity Ball, we honor our West Chester Community for its continuing dedication both in financial support and volunteerism to provide the essential services for those in need. The community’s participation in this stellar event is evidence of the ongoing generosity to improve the lives of those less fortunate.”
