No Shortage of Praise for West Chester’s Newest Culinary Gem

Andiario, one of the newest additions to West Chester’s culinary scene, continues to receive praise from both foodies and critics, writes Ken Allan for Main Line Today.

The intimate, 34-seat restaurant has quickly become one of the most sought-after reservations in the area. The restaurant’s co-owner Anthony Andiario used to work for Arizona restaurant legend Chris Bianco.

Andiario moved to West Chester with his girlfriend, Maria van Schaijik. Her desire to live closer to her parents proved fortuitous for the couple. The restaurant opened in the spring and has quickly become a favorite.

Andiario offers a warm dining space with abstract paintings and a colorful open kitchen. Its four sharable dishes change with the season and the desires of the head chef and restaurant namesake.

And while the restaurant also offers some fine pasta dishes, Andiario maintains it is not an Italian restaurant, but a Pennsylvania one with “an Italian sensibility.”

Van Schaijik only accepts phone reservations, making them hard to get. So the owner suggests dining earlier in the week or trying to get a table as an early-evening walk-in.
