Manny DeMutis, owner and president of The DeMutis Group of Phoenixville, met with government, business, and education leaders in Pottstown to share his insights on its revitalization, according to report from The Phoenix Reporter & Item.

The event was a part of an ongoing series of informal monthly breakfasts intended to spark collaboration and information-sharing in the borough.

Barry Cassidy, a former director of Main Street Development in Phoenixville and a planning and development consultant, joined DeMutis for the meeting.

DeMutis discussed Phoenixville’s renaissance, saying that it was mainly due to the “selfless leadership” of developers and others.

“Pottstown has the ability to decide what you want to be when you grow up,” he said. “You need to go and ‘be’ that vision.”

He stressed that Pottstown needs to begin with revisiting and reprioritizing code enforcement issues. It also needs to aggressively promote its Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance program to developers, embrace rental properties, and create downtown festivals of all shapes and sizes.
