Downingtown native Shae Yanez aims for perfection in her role as goalkeeper for the Tennessee’s women’s soccer team, writes Al Lesar for the Knoxville News Sentinel.

The Downingtown West grad has allowed just 10 goals in 18 games this season.

“What makes her great is the perfectionist in her,” said Lady Vols coach Brian Pensky.

Yanez went from playing 13 minutes in a single game as a freshman to beating out senior Jamie Simmons about seven games into her sophomore season. Now, as a senior, she has posted 11 shutouts.

“She is confident,” Pensky said of Yanez. “She plays with personality. She plays hard all of the time. Whether it’s a training session that’s 20 minutes, she’s going to take it very seriously; or if it’s a game when the lights are on, she’s going to be a pro.”

Tennessee is currently 13-2-3 and waiting to hear if it qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
