After having hip surgery earlier this year, British tennis star Andy Murray is looking to regain his form with the help of Bill Knowles, a world-renowned expert in reconditioning who is based in Wayne, writes Simon Briggs for The Telegraph.

Knowles is one of the leading specialists for athletes looking to “return to play.”

He works out of HP Sports, which is located at YSC Sports in Wayne and caters primarily to professional athletes who are recovering from surgery or serious injury.

One of Knowles’s slogans is that reconditioning is primarily about “pulling the athlete out of his injury.” He is known for using somewhat unconventional methods, such as cushioned assault courses.

“Bill Knowles’s deal is, ‘Let’s play games,’” said Sam Bradford, the former Eagles and current Arizona Cardinals quarterback who trained at HP Sports after ACL surgery.

“One day he said, ‘Let’s play badminton.’ He would hit it high and make me change directions and run. You don’t think about it being rehab until you look and see the positions your body’s been in and you think, ‘that’s pretty close to the positions and movements you’ve got to make as a quarterback.’”
