These Five Cities Rank Ahead of Philadelphia for Best Places for Oktoberfest Celebrations

The region’s beer aficionados don’t need to pay huge amounts for a flight to Germany for a proper Oktoberfest party, according to WalletHub.

Philadelphia ranked sixth on 2018’s Best Places for Oktoberfest Celebrations. The list compares the nation’s 100-largest cities based on their Oktoberfest-friendliness, which was determined by their Oktoberfest Traditions, Cost, and Safety & Accessibility.

The categories were evaluated using 24 metrics, including the number of Germans, breweries, average beer price, and crime rate. WalletHub also included an infographic full of interesting data about the festival. For instance, 1.98 million gallons of beer are consumed during Oktoberfest, and the event’s annual tourism contributes $1.53 billion to Munich.

According to WalletHub, the best place in the nation to celebrate Oktoberfest is New York City. Portland, Ore., Cincinnati, San Francisco, and Chicago round out the Top Five.
