These Chester County Educators Among Top Teachers Around the Main Line, Western Suburbs

Seven exceptional educators in Chester County who go above and beyond for their students are among the best teachers in the region, writes Lisa Dukart for Main Line Today.

To compile its list of 2018 Top Teachers Around the Main Line and Western Suburbs, Main Line Today asked readers for nominations and selected 15.

Kate Madigan, a language arts teacher at Kennett Middle School, fosters a positive environment for children who are non-native English learners. Rob Gregory, who teaches 10th-grade English and elective classes in journalism at Avon Grove High School, encourages his students to discover real-life reporting.

Joe O’Sullivan from Kennett High School works with immigrant students and their parents to help them better understand the American school system. Jenni Southmayd, Instructional Coach at Fern Hill Elementary School in West Chester, tries to integrate technology into classrooms.

Tori DeCesare at East Vincent Elementary School is active in the after-school program for underperforming children. John Koenig, a history and philosophy teacher at Conestoga High School, wants students to look at things from different perspectives.

And Ashley Penn, chair of the English Department at Avon Grove High School, has an eclectic collection of books students can borrow.
