The Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville has adjusted its leadership following a successful expansion last year, writes Kenneth Hilario for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Mary Foote

The staff of the theatre, made famous by the cult classic The Blob in 1958, began with executive director Mary Foote and current general manager Scott Bauman.

Over the last 18 years, the theatre has steadily grown, adding a programming director, patron services director, and development director.

Last year, it began a multi-year project. The nonprofit Association for the Colonial Theatre purchased the next-door property that used to be the National Bank of Phoenixville.

Kenneth Metzner

The $8 million project connected the two buildings and converted the former bank into two theatres. The expansion needed additional part-time positions and an expanded volunteer base.

Now, after years of successfully leading the theatre, Foote has stepped down. Last month, she was replaced by Kenneth Metzner.

Metzner was formerly executive director of Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers, a nonprofit dance company in Philadelphia.
