The Epic Nerd Camp in the Poconos lets adults unleash their inner-child to play and enjoy fantasy-like settings and stories during their stay in Starrucca, Pa., located in Wayne County, writes Karen Heller for The Washington Post.

The summer camp is for people aged 21 and older and it offers all the splendors of overnight camp. “Nerds” assemble for five days and four nights at the camp where shame is shunned and geek flags fly proud.

Now in its third year, ENC features live-action role-playing and costume play. Participants also get to enjoy wand-making and sword-fighting, as well as Quidditch, escape rooms, and more.

ENC was founded by Kim Kjessler, a former dolphin trainer, and her chef husband, Bentley. This year, the camp welcomed 200 campers and volunteers from across the country.

She was inspired by gatherings such as BlizzCon, where she met her husband. However, she said that while conventions are great, they are not a place to make friends.

“I designed a camp that I wanted to go to,” she said.
