Coatesville Invitational Vintage Grand Prix Evokes Spirit of Early Days of Auto Racing

By

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!

The third annual Coatesville Invitational Vintage Grand Prix will commence on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 8:30 AM.

Hosted by the City of Coatesville, this unique event was envisioned to evoke the spirit of the early days of auto and motorcycle racing through the streets and roads of towns across America.

Vintage race cars and motorcycles dating back from the early 1900s through 1970 will rev their engines at 9 AM and follow a 2.2-mile course along Lincoln Highway that encompasses the heart of the city and its neighborhoods.

This epic motorsport event, which benefits Coatesville’s Parks and Recreation Department, is free to the public. Vendors and food trucks will be located right in the middle of all the action, at Third Avenue and Harmony Street.

“It looked like Watkins Glen in the ’50s,” Jon Keesey said of last year’s Coatesville Invitational Vintage Grand Prix. “It was the most fun I’ve had yet behind the wheel.”
