The YMCA of Greater Brandywine recently issued its 2017 Annual Report and would like to thank all its members, staff, board members, donors, and volunteers who contributed to another successful year.

“Every day at the YMCA, people of all ages, shapes, sizes, abilities, backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities come together, exemplifying what our community stands for,” writes CEO Denise Day and Board Chair Kenneth Goddu. “No matter who you are, you have a place at the YMCA. And no matter what you want to accomplish, there is always someone at the Y willing to help you do it. We are a community that stands united.”

Financial assistance makes the YMCA available for those who need it the most. The following numbers in the Annual Report illustrate how the YMCA of Greater Brandywine is improving communities in Chester County:

  • $3.5 million in direct financial assistance was awarded to 11,915 individuals and families
  • 4,041 children explored and played during camp
  • 1,750 kids learned life-saving skills at no cost through the YMCA’s SPLASH! Safety Around Water program
  • 2,421 children were served through the YMCA’s childcare programs
  • 2,069 tweens found mentorship and healthier habits through the YMCA’s Seventh-Grade Initiative
